Overview

During 8 days intensive program, participants will be taught on how to apply the Superadobe/earthbag technique for a dome construction. They will receive in the end of the program certification that can help you grow your career in natural building and design.

The workshop includes both theoretical and practical components, covering topics such as earth architecture, SuperAdobe technique, principles of arch and dome, soil improvement, water management, and hands-on construction of a complete earth dome.

Theory:

• Foundations

• Earth architecture and the importance of building with earth

• The SuperAdobe technique

• The principles of the arch and of the dome

• SuperAdobe dome designing principles

• Practical techniques to analyse earth composition

• Water management

• Introduction to waterproofing

Practice:

• Hands on construction of a complete 5m diameter earth dome (foundation and structure)

• Creation of openings for doors, windows and ventilation

• Introduction to plastering

Cost

The cost for the whole seminar is 600 euros and 550 for early birds. In order to book your place we ask 150 euros that are non refundable in case of drop out.

The Trainer

As a Civil Engineer and Director of Natural Building Programs for Conscious Impact, Mariana has more than a decade of studying and practicing construction around the world. For the past 8 years, Mariana has been guiding hundreds of international volunteers and local Nepali masons in natural building techniques. Her expertise includes Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEBs), cob, wattle and daub and earthbag construction. Certified in Earthbag Dome Construction from Cal-Earth Institute’s partner in Mexico, Mariana will guide you as you learn to build a home with earth.
