A LIVE

ALIVE, a transnational Youth Participation activity, is an eight-day project (15–23 May 2026) hosted by the Greek organisation Yamochori.

It will bring together 28 young people (7 participants from each of 4 countries), aged 23–30, who are ready to actively take part in creating a public space designed through participatory tools. The project will take place in the region of mountainous Etoloakarnania, Greece, where the collective design will be brought to life through hands-on work.

WHAT ISit ABOUT?

Our project ALIVE focuses on three main areas: environmental learning, design thinking and active participation. Its primary goal is to provide young people with knowledge and hands-on experience in these fields. To achieve this, over the past year we organized three participatory design workshops aimed at redesigning the schoolyard of the public Middle School of the Municipality of Thermo, making it greener and more inclusive. Through the project, green spaces will be expanded and small-scale interventions —such as outdoor furniture, playground equipment and facilities for different activities— will be developed based on the needs and priorities of the stakeholders.

During the transnational youth participation event, the young people involved will gain knowledge about design thinking and ways to organize and implement participatory design workshops in their own countries. At the same time, they will take part in hands-on work, contributing to bringing the schoolyard design to life. They will be involved in carpentry work for small-scale public space interventions and will work on site with a large and diverse team, including local youth, school students, members of the local community and representatives of the municipality.
