During this we carried out various activities: from building dry stone walls and paths, to planting a winter vegetable garden and harvesting olives. We were also given the opportunity to carry out personal projects; some decided to repair and decorate a clay oven with natural paints, or others like me decided to delve into the world of wild herbs using them to prepare various meals. Yamochori is a magical place immersed in the greenery of the Greek hinterland. It is the right place for anyone who wants to experience authentic Greece - the rural one, far from the frenetic city life - and is eager for a full immersion in its culture and tradition. Alex and Panagiota are also fantastic people with a big heart, super helpful and able to make us feel part of the project from the first moment. I went to Yamochori to learn more about eco-construction, but besides that I can say I found a family! Thanks for everything, guys. I will come back to visit you soon!

Build a dry wall and a dry path
Giovanni learned the basic principles of dry-stone construction, including how to select, place, and balance stones without the use of mortar. By building a dry wall and a dry path at the entrance of the site, he developed practical skills in working with natural materials and understood the importance of stability, drainage, and durability in a high-use area. The process taught him patience and problem-solving, as each stone needed careful adjustment to fit properly. Beyond the technical skills, Giovanni gained a deeper appreciation for traditional building techniques and for shaping a welcoming, functional entrance that blends harmoniously with the landscape.
